Emergency Prepardeness for Schools
Our classroom programs are designed to support and supplement the teaching you are already doing on health and safety. With the demands on your time coming from so many directions we wanted to create a project that is adaptable to your needs and your time frame. Our goal is to help you teach your children about health, safety, and emergencies in a cooperative and integrated manner.
Below you will see a listing of a few of the programs that we offer for schools, however, the programs we can offer are limited only by your imagination. We are happy to work with you to create a program that is right for you, your students, and your school.
All of our student programs are designed to run 60-90 minutes in length, but can be tailored to meet the needs of a specific classroom. The cost for programming is $225 for one program, $200/program for 2 programs and $175/program for 3 and up.

Bike and Helmet Safety: We go over bike safety including riding rules, bike maintenance, training. We have an "obstacle course" for kids to ride through to practice the skills the learned. Helmet fitting and awareness (we have lots of information that can go home with families including helmet pledges for kids and parents, stickers, reflective dots, etc.)
Ambulance Awareness (or Touch a Truck day): We bring the ambulance and the families get the opportunity to get inside and see what it is like to "ride" in an ambulance. They will get to sit on the stretcher, use some of the equipment to feel comfortable with it, see and hear the lights and sirens.
Babysitting Basics: This program is about preparing kids to become babysitters. We cover safety, emergencies, the "business" aspects and more. For parents we talk about what they should do when hiring a babysitter and what information to have available.
The Human Animal: We have multiple models of various human body parts that the kids and parents can take apart and put together and mannequins that show the function of the lungs. Kids can make their own skeletons and lung models as well.
Safety Officer Training: This program helps kids recognize dangerous situations and what to do in case of one. Kids will be taught about things like water safety with pools and open bodies of water, road and crosswalk safety, "stranger danger", 911, and more. At the end of the training they will be "certified" safety officers with a badge. (This program can be adapted to fit different seasons and situations so it may be offered several times with different foci)
We're All Different: This program works to help children understand and not "fear" other children with different abilities and special needs. We help kids to understand what it is like to be in a wheelchair, wear leg braces, be blind or deaf, and how everyone is different and that is what makes us all special.
Halloween Safety: This program is specific to Halloween and ways to be safe and have a great time.
Teddy Bear Clinic: Nothing scares a child more then going to the doctors or having to ride in a ambulance and not knowing what may happen. Here is a chance for your students to be the EMT and take their teddy bear to the clinic for a check-up. We will bring in stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, measuring tapes, scales, and various other medical equipment for the students to use. By exposing the children to the implements of the medical world they will loose some of the fear of the unknown and be more comfortable with an EMT or at the doctors.
